River Eden (Go Wild Scheme)

Go Wild is an innovative scheme developed by the Eden Rivers Trust. This bright idea pulls together all those little bits of river that don't get fished or nobody know about and for the first time puts them into an accessible format.

In all some 28 beats are available throughout the Eden catchment ranging from small tributaries to the more substantial parts of the river. All fishing is catch and release only and should have immense appeal for the energetic angler who likes his fishing au naturelle - although there are one or two beats where a machete is probably a more appropriate tool than a fly rod.

The scheme involves the purchase of tokens which are then used each time you go fishing - some beats need more tokens than others!

There is a serious side to this as well. Go Wild has been designed to provide a sustainable income for farmers and landowners and focuses in particular on stretches of river where habitat improvement work has been carried out. Additionally, the catch returns help to improve ERT's understanding of the catchment’s wild trout stocks. Set yourself a challenge and see if you can fish all the beats in a season.
